GoSL Funded Projects

The Sierra Leone Roads Authority is also supervising projects/Studies including rehabilitation works mainly funded by the Government of Sierra Leone. With the new dynamics in the activities of the Sierra Leone Roads Authority, the Government of Sierra Leone has taken an increased role in the road sector, particularly in major asphalt works in all the Regions and Districts nationwide. This increased role in the affairs of the road sector has seen the Government of Sierra Leone partnering with Donor Agencies in major road reconstruction/rehabilitation projects.

A. On-going GoSL Funded Projects
• Upgrading of Mange – Mambolo – Rokupr Spur road Project – 35km
• Rehabilitation of Panlap – Kamakwie – Madina Oula project – 148km
• Rehabilitation of Makeni – Kabala road (Phase I) – 120km
• Rehabilitation of Bandajuma- Pujehun road Project – 25km
• Rehabilitation of Taiama Njala road – 11.4km
• Rehabilitation of roads in Three Cities – Bo, Makeni and Kenema; and Magburaka Township roads Project – 21.2km
• Rehabilitation of roads in Port Loko, Lunsar, and Kambia Townships – 13.82km
• Rehabilitation of roads in Moyamba, Bonthe/Mattru Jong and Pujehun District Headquarter Towns – 23km
• Rehabilitation of roads in Koidu and Kabala townships – 25.46km
• Widening of Hillcut Road; Regent Road Junction – Choithrams Hospital – Jomo-Kenyatta Road – 4.38km
• Construction of Tagrin-Lungi-Konakridee Project – 42km
• Rehabilitation of Western Rural District roads (Waterloo Township) Project
• Rehabilitation of Mile 88 – Yonibana – Mile 91 (Yoni Loop) road Project – 8km
• Rehabilitation of Makeni-Kabala road Project – Phase II – 120km

B. Completed Projects/Streets
• Rehabilitation of Sir Samuel Lewis Road Project – 1.3 km
• Overlay of selected streets in Freetown Project
• Rehabilitation of 25km Freetown streets (21 streets completed) – 21km
• Widening of Wilkinson road into dual carriage way plus additional roads – Old Signal Hill road and King Street – 5.2km
• Widening of Spur Road into a dual carriage way from Lumley round about to Hillcut Road Junction – 3.36km
• Rehabilitation of Kissy road, Fourah Bay Road, Mountain Cut and Macauley Street Project – 5.0 km
• Reconstruction of King Jimmy embankment Project
Total = 35.86km

C. Proposed GoSL Funded Projects/Studies
• Storm water drainage Studies within the Freetown Municipality.
• Construction of Fly over/ Under Pass at Berry Street Model Junction and Wilkinson Road – Juba through Atlantic Restaurant.
• Introduction of Toll System on the Regent – Kossoh Town Highway – 11.26km
• Reconstruction of Njala – Sembehun Junction Road – 38km
• Explore and commence reconstruction of national rail network
• Construction of the Kambia – Tomparie – Kamakwei Road Project – 108km
Total = 157.26km
